Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of May 5, 2025.
• I want to thank everyone who decorated, donated, sponsored, and/or worked the Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week. Every day was great and very much appreciated! Special thanks to the PTSA Board members!
• The current NJHS will host the Induction Ceremony for the 2025-2026 members tomorrow, May 5, at 1:30 PM in the auditorium.
• 2nd grade will participate in Swim for Life May 5-8.
• Field Trips May 5 – 9: May 5 – MS Fishing Club and 4-H; May 7 – 7th Grade to Sci Port & Air Force Museum and 4th Grade to Bengal Bounce; and May 9 – 5th Grade Discoveries & Gateway to Bengal Bounce.
• The Middle School Choir, under the direction of Mr. William Parsons, will have their end-of-the-year performance on Tuesday, May 6, at 6:00 PM in the auditorium.
• The 5th Grade DARE graduation will be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, May 7, at 1:30 PM.
• There will be a 5th Grade Instrument Testing for band on Thursday, May 8, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM.
• Almost Anything Goes Day (AAGD) for middle school will be held Friday, May 9. Punch cards for food must be purchased on Local Level. No school aged children (from Herndon Elementary, Private, Public, Charter, Home School, etc.) can be at AAGD unless they have been authorized to work by the school administration.
• FYI: Attendance will be taken each school day and the last day of school (May 5-9 and May 12-15).
• Please be aware that seating at Kindergarten Commencement (May 13 @ 9 am) and 8th Grade Commencement (May 14 @ 10 AM) is limited and reserved for adults. No school aged children from Herndon and any private, public, charter, home school, etc. may attend these commencements.
• As we approach the last two weeks of school, I want to thank you for the support you have given Herndon this school year with all theactivities, events, and fundraisers. HMS is truly blessed with the best!
